Disconnect the brake hose from the shock absorber. Have a container handy to catch any spilt fluid.
Remove the left and right stabilizer bar bushing brackets.
Remove the clip from the shock absorber. Remove the nuts and bolts, then disconnect the shock absorber from the steering knuckle.

Remove the 4 nuts retaining the left and right stabilizer links.
If the ball joint turns with the nut, use a hexagon wrench to hold the stud.
Matchmark the bushing and brackets to the stabilizer. Remove the 4 bolts, 2 brackets and bushings from the stabilizer bar.

On some models you may need to remove the exhaust system.
On all models, support the fuel tank with a jack. On 1988-95 models, remove only the right tank band. On the 1996-97 models, remove both tank bands.

On the 1993-95 models, support the rear crossmember with a jack. Remove the six bolts and lower the member. Remove the rear stabilizer bar.

To install:
Install the stabilizer bar.
On the 1993-95 models, jack up the crossmember, install the bolts, then tighten them to 55 ft lbs. (74 Nm).
Install the fuel tank and bands, then tighten the retaining bolts to 29 ft. lbs. (39 Nm). Remove the jack.
Install the exhaust system if removed. Be sure to install new gaskets.
Align the marks and install the stabilizer bar bushing as shown in the illustration. Install the bushing brackets and bolts. Tighten to 14 ft. lbs. (19 Nm).
Install the left and right stabilizer bar links. Tighten them to 33 ft. lbs. (44 Nm).
Attach the brake hose to the shock absorber and tighten to 11 ft. lbs. (15 Nm). Install the clip retaining the hose to the shock.
Install the wheels, lower the vehicle and tighten the lug nuts to 76 ft. lbs. (103 Nm).
