REMOVAL & INSTALLATIONCAUTION
Brake pads may contain asbestos, which has been determined to be a cancer causing agent. Never clean the brake surfaces with compressed air! Avoid inhaling any dust from any brake surfaces. When cleaning brake surfaces, use a commercially available brake cleaning fluid.
The brake disc rotors should be refinished on a brake lathe, when replacing the rear brake pads for the brake pads to wear properly. INSPECTIONExamine the brake disc. If it is worn, warped or scored, it must be replaced. Check the thickness of the brake disc against the specifications given in the Brake Specifications Chart. If it is below specifications, replace it. Use a micrometer to measure the thickness. The disc run-out should be measured before the disc is removed and again, after the disc is installed. Use a dial indicator mounted on a magnet type stand to determine runout. Position the dial so the stylus is 0.039 inch (10mm) from the outer edge of the rotor disc. Check the run-out specification of brake disc against the specifications given in the Brake Specifications Chart. If run-out exceeds the specification, replace the brake disc. |
